Small Groups

Most of us have hectic schedules, so we are carving out time each week to be with other people. Small groups are a safe place for people to journey through life together, experience authentic community, and be transformed by the Gospel.

At Crossroads, we believe intentional relationships are key to sustained spiritual growth. That's why small groups are such an important part of our discipleship strategy. In a small group, people delve deeper into each Sunday’s message, study God's word together and discuss the issues and challenges of life. It's also where they pray, care for one another, and are missed if they don't show up.

Practically speaking, there will never be a way for the staff or elders to personally minister to everyone who attends our church. That's why we place such a high premium on group life. It's how we minister effectively at Crossroads. The simplest way to get connected with a small group is to fill out the form below this page. You can also receive information by checking the box on your Connection Card on Sunday marked "I would like to know more about small groups", or by sending us an email to smallgroups@crossroadsenterprise.org, or even by just calling our offices anytime Monday through Thursday 9am to 5pm. We'd love to help you get connected!

Volunteer

You don't have to just stand by and watch... Volunteer! Using our gifts and talents to serve others is the reason God gave them to us! When we serve, it adds meaning and purpose to our lives and our church experience. If you are interested in serving in any area, just talk with your small group leader, so that they can get you connected with that ministry opportunity!

Here are some of the many ways you can volunteer:

Aeshthetics If you take pleasure in keeping things looking good, and making our facilities ready to receive visitors, this is for you. We need volunteers to do light cleaning at our office facility. This takes about an hour, Monday through Thursday. Volunteer for one or more days. We also need people willing to stay a few minutes after Sunday services to help clean up at the Cinema and Children’s Annex.

Care Are you a nurturing, compassionate person? Do you love to cook? When someone at Crossroads has a baby or surgery, we like to help with meals when they return home. This is a loving and simple way to lighten someone else’s burden.

Community Crossroads is committed to making a difference in our area. We offer many events and services designed to touch our city with the love of Christ. From our Backpacks for Kids Giveaway, to our Single Parent Oil Change, Emergency Food Boxes, Free Thanksgiving meal (almost 800 plates served at the 2009 event) and Santa for Seniors outreach, there are many ways for you to share your time and treasure with the neediest among us.

Children/Students We’re committed to excellent ministry for kids of all ages. Whether you enjoy rocking babies, sharing Bible stories and crafts with preschoolers, or using exciting teaching, drama and music to inspire young people, it’s easy and fun to get involved. Because we have two services, you don’t have to miss the adult service when you serve in a children’s area. We use the work one/attend one principle in scheduling volunteers. You can make a difference in the life of a child!

Events Crossroads people LOVE to hang out! Our Beach, BBQ & Baptism, Annual Picnic, Hot Blues & BBQ, Freedom Fest, Chili Cookoff and Christmas Eve service are just a few of the things we like to do! But it takes creative, hardworking people to plan these events and make them really special. If you love to be part of events that bring people together, this is for you!

Guest Services/Lobby Did you know that most people decide if they’ll return to a church in the first 7 minutes of their visit? That means before the band plays the first song, before the pastor begins to speak, people have already decided if they feel at home. Makes creating a warm, welcoming environment seem pretty important, right? If you are a “people person” willing to greet, serve refreshments and answer questions, this is a great place to meet people and get connected.

Music/Arts At Crossroads, excellent music and the highest quality media are key elements of the way we “do” church. If you are a skilled musician, singer, worship leader, graphic artist, photographer, or media specialist, there are many opportunities to serve in both adult and student environments. This area of ministry requires an audition/invitation.

Set Up/Tear Down Teams One of the realities of being portable is that every Sunday, we must transform a movie theatre and dance studio into a church and children’s center. This requires strong, faithful people willing to serve once or twice a month. There is a great “esprit d’ corps” in this group, they make it happen every Sunday! If you are strong, and don’t mind getting up a little early, or staying a few minutes after the second service, this is a great place to meet people and start volunteering.

Tech/Skilled If you like working with computers/audio/video/lighting equipment, there are opportunities in the production department, and the adult, childrens, middle school, and youth services.

God’s PEACE PLAN for Your Life

STEP 1: GOD'S PURPOSE: PEACE AND LIFE
God loves you and wants you to experience peace and life—abundant and eternal.  The Bible says... "We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." —Romans 5:1 (NIV)  "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." —John 3:16 (NIV) "I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." —John 10:10 (NIV)  Why don't most people have this peace and abundant life that God planned for us to have?

STEP 2: THE PROBLEM: OUR SEPARATION
God created us in His own image to have an abundant life. He did not make us as robots to automatically love and obey Him. God gave us a will and a freedom of choice. We chose to disobey God and go our own willful way. We still make this choice today. This results in separation from God. The Bible says ..."For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." —Romans 3:23 (NIV)  "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." —Romans 6:23 (NIV)

Our Attempts to Reach God People have tried in many ways to bridge this gap between themselves and God ...The Bible says ..."There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death." —Proverbs 14:12 (NIV) "But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear." —Isaiah 59:2 (NIV)  No bridge reaches God ... except one.

STEP 3: GOD'S BRIDGE: THE CROSS
Jesus Christ died on the Cross and rose from the grave. He paid the penalty for our sin and bridged the gap between God and people.  The Bible says ..."For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Jesus Christ." —1 Timothy 2:5 (NIV  "For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God." —1 Peter 3:18 (NIV)  "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."—Romans 5:8 (NIV)  God has provided the only way. Each person must make a choice.

STEP 4: OUR RESPONSE: RECEIVE CHRIST
We must trust Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and receive Him by personal invitation.  The Bible says ...  "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me." —Revelation 3:20 (NIV)  "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." —John 1:12 (NIV) "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." —Romans 10:9 (NIV)

Where are you?  Will you receive Jesus Christ right now?  Here is how you can receive Christ:  1. Admit your need (I am a sinner).  2. Be willing to turn from your sins (repent).  3. Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the Cross and rose from the grave.  4. Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come in and control your life through the Holy Spirit.  (Receive Him as Lord and Savior.)

Prayer: WILL YOU PRAY NOW?
No, saying a prayer doesn’t make you saved.  Believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and trusting Him with your life is what makes you saved.  A prayer is just a spoken confirmation of that belief…but it IS good.

How to Pray:
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as Lord and Savior. In Jesus' name. Amen.

God's Assurance: His Word
If you prayed this prayer,  The Bible says ...  "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. " —Romans 10:13 (NIV) Did you sincerely ask Jesus Christ to come into your life? Where is He right now? What has He given you?  "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." —Ephesians 2:8,9 (NIV) Receiving Christ, we are born into God's family through the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer. This is called regeneration, or the "new birth."  This is just the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ. To deepen this relationship you should
  1. Read your Bible everyday to know Christ better.
  2. Talk to God in prayer every day.
  3. Tell others about Christ.
  4. Worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is preached.
  5. As Christ's representative in a needy world, demonstrate your new life by your love and concern for others.
This page is for those who may have questions about what they heard at Crossroads this morning.  We want you to know that we are here to answer any questions you may have.

QUESTIONS ABOUT SALVATION?
We recognize that the whole idea of salvation can be challenging to understand, and that it is possible to walk out of a church service and still wonder what we’re supposed to do about what we just heard.

The Bible encourages us to be “DO-ers” of what we have heard, and not just “HEAR-ers”.  Won’t you take a few moments and, after learning what next steps are available for you, go ahead and take those steps today?

STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?
Give us a call any time during the week Monday through Thursday from 9AM to 4PM at Crossroads office at (334) 347-3947.  We’ll be glad to listen to any questions you may have, and we’ll do our very best to answer them.  If you would prefer, you can contact Pastor Gene, or any of Crossroads Staff, via email at info@crossroadsenterprise.org.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, seeing you each Sunday morning at our worship services, and helping you get into a Small Group, where we learn to LOVE GOD, LOVE OTHERS and SERVE THE WORLD!
